  • The camp is an annual one-day youth baseball camp held in Fredericksburg, Virginia that features skills-based training stations and scrimmage play. It’s run in honor of Karen Friedman and supports charitable causes tied to her legacy.

  • The event raises funds to support breast cancer research and to fund the Karen Wallace Friedman Memorial Scholarship for deserving King George High School seniors. All proceeds are split 50/50 between these two purposes, and donations are tax-deductible.

  • Karen Friedman was a beloved teacher, community member, mother, and wife whose life and legacy focused on education and compassion. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away in 1992. The camp continues her memory by supporting youth and cancer causes.

  • The camp is designed for kids, generally ages 7–12, and focuses on the development of broad baseball skills, including hitting, fielding, pitching, base running, and strength & conditioning.

  • Athletes rotate through skills stations and receive coaching from top local high school coaches, current college players, and former professionals who volunteer their time to teach fundamentals and game insights.

  • Registration is available online, and all players must complete a waiver form before attending. Registered campers receive a camp t-shirt (if signed up by the deadline).

  • Supporters can donate directly through the camp website, become a sponsor (with multiple sponsorship levels that include recognition and possible free camp spots), or volunteer.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles, including helping with registration, assisting at skill stations, and supporting campers throughout the day.
